Paul Smith and the Intimations – Contradictions
A classic album in waiting, Contradictions is the brand new record by dynamic pop auteur Paul Smith.
It shows a more vulnerable side to the Maxïmo Park ringleader, drawing inspiration from across the miles combining North Easterly charm with the grit of Brooklyn’s NYC coast and shows that no matter where you’re heading or where you’ve been, life itself can be a bit of a paradox.
Silver Fox (Upset The Rhythm)
Silver Fox are an, all-female, all-thrilling, no-filler band from Newcastle. Silver Fox partnered up with producer, Andrew Hodson (Warm Digits), to create an album that reflects the energy of their live performances. This is music with no rules or preconceptions; pooling ideas and observations into music that can be raucous, sad, reflective, powerful, wistful, or whatever it needs to be. With vibrating harmonies and primal beats at its heart, sounds and words form together in response to the lives we all live. They formed in 2009, and have had well-received single releases on M’Lady’s (Waves on in/Marble World) and Milk (Capital Kiss/Arosa) in 2012 also produced by Hodson
Cath & Phil Tyler – Dumb Supper
The success of Dumb Supper as a whole lies in its straightforward approach to telling tales without much in the way of extraneous embellishment or redundant, inappropriate shows of flashy technique. The simplicity of this approach is to imbue the music with a timeless feel that is astonishingly potent, raw and edgy.
Paul Smith – Margins
Margins is the solo debut from Newcastle-based Brit-pop outfit Maximo Park front-man Paul Smith. Spirited, but more moody and arty than his work with the band,Margins was released in October 2010.
Hodson has produced 2 Albums for Warm Digits and one EP featuring Field Music
From 2006 to 2012 Hodson has made music under the name the Matinee Orchestra. He released an album in 2006 on arable records
